Sure, you can kill some time playing Madden NFL on your PlayStation, but did you know you can also use your living room game console to tune into the real deal? Of course, the NFL regular season is fast approaching, and with that comes unparalleled excitement among football fans.
2023 is a remarkable year for football, with rules and schedule changes. Additionally, new media rights agreements have expanded the options for viewers to enjoy the NFL from the comfort of their homes. Streaming has made the NFL more accessible, offering cord-cutters unprecedented access to both in-market and out-of-market games.
All you need is a supported device and a fast internet connection to bring the stadium atmosphere into your living room, never missing a moment of intense gridiron battles and long-standing rivalries between your favorite league teams and players.
PlayStation isn’t just home to immersive, interactive virtual worlds; it’s also your getaway to streaming content, including live sports. Here’s all you need to know to watch NFL on PS4 and PS5.
Where to Watch NFL on PS4 & PS5?
CBS, FOX, NBC, ESPN/ABC, and the NFL Network: The following are the six American TV networks broadcasting the 272 National Football League games across the 18 weeks of the 2023 regular season nationwide. As in previous seasons:
- CBS is home to Sunday afternoon matchups involving AFC (American Football Conference) teams, while FOX is where the NFC (National Football Conference) games commence.
- ESPN is your go-to for Monday Night Football, with ABC and ESPN2 simulcasting a few.
- Sunday Night Football, arguably some of the most exciting NFL games, airs on your nearest NBC affiliate.
- The NFL Network carries select pre-season games and four NFL International Series matchups.
Many of you might wonder why we’re highlighting the cable/satellite channels, but we have good reasons. Odds are you’ve heard of streaming television services like Hulu Live TV and YouTube TV, both of which support PlayStation 4 and 5 consoles.
With a Hulu + Live TV or YouTube TV Base Plan, you get streaming access to all the NFL broadcasting channels. Hence, you can catch almost every NFL regular season and playoff game, with more live sports, entertainment, and news across 80+ top networks.
Even better, you can tune into every out-of-market Sunday afternoon game (outside the ones aired on your local CBS and FOX station) if you subscribe to NFL Sunday Ticket via YouTube TV. The add-on sports package is available with and without NFL RedZone.
However, most are better off going with Hulu’s offering for comprehensive NFL coverage on PS4 and PS5 because of its extra benefits, which include unlimited cloud DVR, access to Hulu’s on-demand library, and the Disney+ and ESPN+ streaming platforms.
How to Watch NFL on PS4 & PS5?
It’s easier than you think. If you have a PS4 or PS4 Pro, simply navigate to the PlayStation Store from your Home screen, search for “Hulu” or “YouTube TV,” and select Download, after which you can access either app from the TV and Video menu.
If you have a PlayStation 5, select the Media tab above the Home screen, then All Apps. Choose Hulu or YouTube TV from the following list of apps and select Download. You can then open the newly installed app from the Media menu.
Logging into the following live TV apps is as simple as entering your account credentials or following the on-screen prompts to sign in with your phone or computer. You can register for a Hulu + Live TV or YouTube TV subscription via their official sites, i.e., hulu.com/live-tv and tv.youtube.com.
Once you’re in, navigate to the app’s LIVE tab to access the TV channel broadcasting the NFL, whether it’s ABC, CBS, FOX, ESPN, NBC, or the NFL Network. You may also play the live football stream directly from the featured banner of the Home page.
Hulu and YouTube TV offer unlimited live TV recording, so you can also set a DVR schedule for upcoming football matchups and watch the games later on demand.
Note: New users can sign up for the YouTube TV Base Plan and get up to 14 days of free trial (for a limited time only). |
