Warner Bros. Discovery serves several pay-cable channels in the United States, with TNT being one of them. It mainly airs a mix of acquired fantasy and crime dramas, reality shows in the daytime, and sports in the nighttime. TNT used to focus on its original shows, but now it’s more famous for its airing of the NBA, NHL, and March Madness.
Nowadays, most of Turner Network’s former original and syndicated programming streams on-demand. But there are times you may want to tune into the channel for its professional or college basketball and hockey games broadcasts. Fortunately, even for that, you don’t need to continue your cable or satellite TV plan.
Whether you plan to cut the cord or already have, our comprehensive guide explores ways to watch TNT on LG Smart TV. Keep reading to learn more.
TNT on LG Smart TV: Is Watch TNT Available on LG TV?
The Watch TNT app offers complimentary streaming access to its programs on-demand and live channels for subscribers who pay for the network via cable, satellite, or streaming providers.
Users can authenticate the app with valid login details and watch their favorite TNT shows, movies, and sporting events on the go. It supports most renowned US providers like AT&T, Cox, Dish, DirecTV, Optimum, Verizon, XFINITY, and many more.
The bad news is that while the TNT app is available on phones, tablets, various Smart TV platforms, and streaming media devices, including Android TV, Apple TV, Fire TV, and Roku, it’s yet to make its debut on webOS-powered LG Smart TVs. Chances are you’ve already looked on the Content Store and couldn’t find the app.
EASY Workaround: Use the Mobile App to Watch TNT on LG TV
The TNT mobile app (Android | iOS) allows users to cast live and on-demand streams on compatible screens. While it doesn’t support AirPlay, you can still cast content from the app on select LG Smart TVs, particularly the ones running webOS 4.0 and above.
For casting to work, ensure your phone or tablet and LG Smart TV are on the same Wi-Fi channel (i.e., one device can’t be on 5 GHz while the other is on 2.4 GHz) on the same network. Like your mobile device, your LG TV should have high-speed internet access for optimal stream quality.
Once you download the TNT app on your device from the respective storefront, follow these steps to activate it:
- Launch Watch TNT from your phone or tablet’s home screen or app list.
- Tap the Profile icon at the bottom-right corner and select Sign In. Alternatively, try playing a show, movie, or live channel.
- Choose your TV Provider from the options. If you don’t see your cable, satellite, or streaming provider, tap the View All button to expand the list.
- The app will redirect you to your provider’s login site. Type in your provider credentials (username and password) and confirm signing in.
And that’s it! Now you can watch TNT on the big screen with just a few taps. Simply tap the Cast (TV with signal bars) icon at the app’s top-right corner and choose your LG TV model on the list, after which you can pick your favorite show or live sports to cast on your TV.
Note: To watch most of TNT’s content, you must have a TV Provider account that includes the respective network in your package. The TNT app doesn’t have a streaming-only subscription that you can buy or try for free. Note there are also no hidden fees for using the Watch TNT app. |
Other Ways to Watch TNT on LG Smart TV
Assuming you don’t have a cable or satellite plan to log in with, you can turn to streaming services to watch TNT and several other networks on your LG Smart TV. The good news is that many live TV streaming providers offer TNT and its sister channels just like the traditional pay-cable providers.
Starting with the cheapest option is Sling TV, which includes TNT in its Orange, Blue, and combined Orange & Blue plans. It also carries TBS and truTV, which serve as overflow channels for select sporting events and offer original programming. You also get 50-hour live TV recording time and up to three simultaneous streams (one with Orange).
Another great option is Hulu + Live TV. It features over 85 channels covering nearly the entire Warner Bros. Discovery network, including TNT, TBS, truTV, and AT&T SportsNet (only in NY), along with premium entertainment, sports, and news channels. On top of that, you get the benefits of unlimited cloud DVR, two device streams, Hulu’s on-demand library, and, most notably, access to ESPN+ and Disney+ services.
If you don’t care about complimentary access to VOD apps and are looking for a complete range of channels, YouTube TV is your outlet. The popular live TV service offers over 100 channels as part of its Base Plan, which (obviously) includes TNT, and TBS, among several other top networks. You can also record unlimited live TV and have six family profiles on your account, with up to three streaming simultaneously.
YouTube TV also often runs free-trial promotions for new subscribers, with the trial period lasting up to 14 days for some. If you’re looking forward to watching the upcoming NBA on TNT sports programming but don’t want to pay for the monthly plan, just sign up for the Youtube TV trial, stream the game on your LG TV, and cancel the subscription afterward!
All the following streaming TV apps are compatible with LG webOS TVs (2016 and later models). And as mentioned earlier, you can use your subscription to sign in to Watch TNT and similar TV Everywhere services.
